Our Beautiful World - Happy and Sad

Happy because it is a wonderful day today and Valentine's and very sad because it will be the final blog post for Our Beautiful World ... no new challenges anymore :-( I do understand and want to thank all of you ladies so much for all the hard work and the enjoyment.
So I thought I make it as sweet and loving as possible ... I wish all of you a truly lovely and beautiful day! Petra.

My Sunday Photo - Reflection

Today I  got a very big surprise. Some months ago I moved not only house but also country and it seemed that I had lost my little Pentax Optio RZ10 camera. Yes, it has not been the youngest anymore and I  do have a big DSLR now but the photos were not bad at all and it had been handy to have one for the pocket.
Last night I opened my last box and at the very bottom ... guess what ... there is my little camera entangled within a bunch of cables .... so happy. And, of course, I had to try straight away if it works ... I am happy to report it does! Have a good start to the week, Petra.

During the night it rained a lot. The rain left some puddles in the front of my house showing a reflection of my pot plant.

My Sunday Photo - Banana Bread

Sorry for my absence last week ... I was moving and got stuck in dozens of removal boxes and I don't know how many tons of paper and cardboard :-)
For the first time since I've moved to La Palma I actually own an oven and was able to bake my first ever cake over here ... yippeeehhh ... banana bread
It turned out to be quite good but still need a bit of experimenting with the new oven and the different ingredients. More cakes on the horizon :-)

Our Beautiful World - Light

It's the most magical to watch the natural light change during the day ... not only in intensity but also in colouring the sky. For me it is most noticeable in the evening before Sunset when the colours get truly intense withthe disappearance of the Sun .... Sunset is my favourite time of the day ☺

The photos were taken during an astronomy tour which started with watching the sun set over the Western part of La Palma island. It is the Mirador del Jable. I love this viewpoint very much because it gives a very fine view towards the mountains nd the sea in the West of the island. And I am up there very often to watch the light fade and the colours of the sky change.

Our Beautiful World - Tis the Season

So many memories, so many "I cannot imagine Christmas without" ... one stands out: the Poinsettia. Every year my Grandmother used to get at least one pot and got many more as presents. She took pride in nursing them through all the Christmas period in their full flowery glory.
As child I could not imagine that these plants would ever grow in the wild ... how much was I mistaken! Here in La Palma Poinsettias grow in abundance and flower just in time for the Christmas period ... Merry Christmas! Petra.
